چکیده
Sugarcane bagasse (SCB) is increasingly considered as a potential source for bioenergy or bulk chemicals production. However, efficient pretreatment techniques need to be developed make full use of its potential. A central composite design was employed evaluate the effect temperature (146.4–213.6 °C), NaOH concentration (0.7–2.3 M) and treatment time (3.2–36.8 min) on hydrothermal SCB. Glucose abundant fermentable sugar released in hydrolysate (4.0 g/L) significantly (p-value < 0.05) affected by concentration. Sugars remaining cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin pretreated fiber were anaerobically co-digested batch thermophilic assays (55 °C). Propionate, one most promising platform chemicals, main metabolite produced (0.5 Both duration methane composition biogas <0.05 0,10 respectively). Defluviitoga, Methanothermobacter genera favored response alkaline at point conditions (180 °C, 1.5 M NaOH, 20 min).

Alkaline Pretreatment of Sugarcane Bagasse and Filter Mud Codigested to Improve Biomethane Production
To enhance the codigestion of degradation and improve biomethane production potential, sugarcane bagasse and filter mud were pretreated by sodium hydroxide NaOH 1 N at 100°C for 15, 30, and 45 minutes, respectively. Biomethane generation from 1-liter batch reactor was studied at mesophilic temperature (37 ± 1)°C, solid concentrations of 6%, and five levels of mixing proportion with and without ...
متن کاملOptimization of pretreatment and fermentation conditions for production of extracellular cellulase complex using sugarcane bagasse
Sugarcane bagasse (SCB), a lignocellulosic byproduct of juice extraction from sugarcane, is rich in cellulose (40-42%). This could be used as a substrate for the production of cellulase complex. Fermentation conditions were optimized for production of cellulase complex (CMCase, Cellulobiase and FPase) by wild type Trichoderma sp. using sugarcane bagasse as sole carbon source. Alkaline treatment...
متن کاملComparison of Pretreatment Methods for Production of Ethanol from Sugarcane Bagasse
Sugarcane bagasse (SCB) was modified by steam explosion pretreatment at 190 °C for 10 min and 210 °C for 5 min using green liquor (GL) combined with hydrogen peroxide (GL-H2O2) and ethanol (GL-Ethanol) for simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF)based ethanol production. The results showed that 85.02% and 100% of hemicelluloses were solubilized by steam explosion pretreatment at 190...
متن کاملPretreatment and enzymatic process modification strategies to improve efficiency of sugar production from sugarcane bagasse
Pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis play a critical role in the economic production of sugars and fuels from lignocellulosic biomass. In this study, we evaluated diverse pilot-scale pretreatments and different post-pretreatment strategies for the production of fermentable sugars from sugarcane bagasse. For the pretreatment of bagasse at pilot-scale level, steam explosion without catalyst and ...
متن کاملGlycerol carbonate as green solvent for pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse
BACKGROUND Pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass is a prerequisite for effective saccharification to produce fermentable sugars. In this study, "green" solvent systems based on acidified mixtures of glycerol carbonate (GC) and glycerol were used to treat sugarcane bagasse and the roles of each solvent in deconstructing biomass were determined. RESULTS Pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse at 90...
